Course description

The PhD program has 4 phases, namely- Doctoral Coursework, Qualifying Examination, Preparation of Research Proposal and Thesis Work which can be completed in four years.

They also experience the case method through the writing of cases as well as intensive workshops on teaching and soft skills. At the end of the coursework, students undergo the Qualifying Examination, which tests the student’s knowledge of the prescribed areas and their ability to apply it in original research.

Upon clearing the Qualifying Examination, the students register for the independent study seminars and prepare their PhD. thesis proposal under the guidance of a Doctoral Advisory Committee.

In the third year, the full time students are eligible to spend 6 months in a foreign University under the Visiting Scholar Program (optional) on self-supported basis. By the end of second year or early third year, they defend their thesis proposal and start working on their Ph.D. thesis. They complete the PhD. thesis work in the fourth year.

The PhD program trains the candidate to an extent where they can be assured of success in any organization – whether academic or corporate.

The part time PhD works in an almost similar manner. The course work is completed over a period of two years and the candidate is expected to make eight visits to campus for 9 days each in a quarter. The process of Qualifying Examination, Thesis Proposal and Thesis Defense are the same as the Full Time PhD program.
